What Is A Dental Bridge?

Replace Missing Teeth - Newmarket DentistDental bridges are a great way to replace a missing tooth or gap in your smile. A bridge is generally made of porcelain alone or sometimes porcelain with metal on the inside for additional strength. Bridges are strong, durable and natural looking. Dental bridges are cemented into place and are NOT removable.

Why Should I Replace My Missing Tooth?

Our conservative dentistry strongly recommend that if you are missing a tooth you consider having it replaced. In addition to the aesthetic advantages of replacing the tooth, it will also help you to functionally eat and speak properly. Missing teeth can cause structural changes in your mouth, putting additional stress on the remaining teeth in the jaw, causing damage over time.

How do I Know if a Dental Bridge is Right for Me?

Replace Missing Teeth - Newmarket Dentist A bridge is a great way to feel and look like you have your own tooth back. There are three ways to replace a missing tooth. Your options are a partial denture, bridge or implant. Which one is best for you is dependent on many factors. Dr. Gray will go over your options and the benefits of each with you.

First the teeth are prepared under local anesthetic by reducing their thickness and height in order to make space for the dental bridge. Then the teeth are digitally scanned and sent to our lab where a dental bridge is created. A temporary dental bridge is made for you to go home with.

In about a week your dental bridge is ready and is affixed once you are happy with the "look and feel".

Dental bridges are a great way to enhance your smile. We custom match the colour with a special shade gun that scans and reads the colour. This information is passed onto the ceramist who specializes in colour matching.

Our office also offers custom staining, where the ceramist will come in and add detail to the dental bridge while you are here and be part of the process. We are dedicated to making sure that you are happy with the results before the dental bridge is placed.

Replace Missing Teeth - Newmarket Dentist What Can I Expect?

With our iTero digital scanner, we can create an image of your mouth and bite digitally. The results are stored on your digital file and sent electronically to the lab. The digital imaging process is less intrusive, more comfortable and more accurate than the traditional method (using an impression material and trays).
